FIRST PRINCIPLES PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TEAM WRAPS UP FIRST CANADA CUP SEASON
WITH A WIN AT FERNIE
The final race of the 2002 Canada Cup DH season took place
in Fernie, BC on August 4th with Geoff Pendrel finishing on the
top of the podium in the Senior Men's Pro/Elite DH category. Congratulations
to Geoff, who's second win in the last three races secured him
a spot on the Canadian National DH race team and a trip to the
World's in Austria next month. Like his teammates, Geoff races
with a stock FP01-R Disc Brake Hub Adapter from First Principles
Performance Products on his Cove Bikes prepared Intense M1 bike.
Congratulations to the entire team, for a tremendous campaign
in 2002.
2002 RACE SUMMARY

7th - Canada Cup DH#4, Nationals, Sun Peaks, BC
12th - Canada Cup DH#5, Fernie, BC
Eric's first full racing season at the national level was an
unqualified success and opened many eyes to his tremendous potential.
After spending the entire season ranked nationally in the top
five, a controversial 12th place in Fernie dropped him out of
National Team contention at the last moment and he finished
his season ranked 7th in the nation. Watch out for Eric next
year. His consistency and speed will be certain to make a mark. |
Geoff Pendrel,
Senior Men's Pro/Elite DH
24th - Canada Cup DH#1, Mont Tremblant, PQ
5th - Canada Cup DH#2, Murtoch, NS
1st - Canada Cup DH#3, Poley Mtn., NB
39th - World Cup DH#4, Telluride, CO
9th - Canada Cup DH#4, Nationals, Sun Peaks, BC
1st - Canada Cup DH#5, Fernie, BC
Geoff's best season ever is not over yet. His lightning quick second
half resulted in a 2nd overall national ranking, earning him a well-deserved
spot on the National Team and a trip to Kaprun, Austria to race
in the World Championships next month. Geoff earned his first ever
Pro win at Poley Mountain in July and then promptly proved to everyone
that the win no fluke when he finished first in the season finale
at Fernie two weeks later. Congratulations on a fantastic season
Geoff, and best of luck at the Worlds.
Andrew Mills (mechanic),
Beginner/Sport DH
12th - Canada Cup DH#4, Nationals, Sun Peaks, BC
Andy competed in his first DH race at Sun Peaks last month, finishing
12th in the 'Mechanic's' class. Congratulations to Andy, who's official
role as team mechanic and overshadowed only by his critical role
as principal team supporter.
